Questions we get
every week
Turnaround times, artwork, sizing, wood, shipping and how to look after an engraved piece. If yours is not here, call or email us.
Before you order
Stock catalogue pieces leave the workshop in five to seven business days. Custom commissions take five to seven days from the moment you approve the proof, and we tell you the real date when we quote — not a best case. December is the exception: ornament and holiday orders should be placed by 30 November.
Yes, and most people do. Send the largest version you have. What matters is contrast and depth rather than file size — a bright, flat phone snapshot often engraves worse than an older photo with strong shadows. We will tell you before you pay whether your file will work, and what to send instead if it will not.
Always. We send a layout proof showing exactly what will be engraved, and nothing is cut until you approve it. Changes at the proof stage cost nothing.
Mostly maple, walnut, cherry and bamboo, plus end-grain boards for kitchen work. Each takes the laser differently — walnut gives the strongest contrast, maple the cleanest fine detail. If you have a preference, say so; if you do not, we pick the one that suits the design.
Every catalogue product is priced by size, so you choose the size at checkout and the price updates. The range shown on the product card is the smallest and the largest size. Custom work is quoted individually.
Yes. Customization is part of what we do and it is included on most pieces rather than charged as an extra. Tell us the exact text when you order, and check it on the proof — we engrave what you approve, spelling included.
We ship across the United States, insured, from Salisbury, North Carolina. Shipping is calculated at checkout by weight and destination. Local pickup in Salisbury can be arranged — call first, it is a working workshop, not a shop front.
Stock items in original condition can be returned within 30 days. Customized and custom pieces cannot be returned for a change of mind, because they cannot be resold — that is why we insist on a proof first. If a piece arrives damaged or is not what the approved proof showed, we remake it or refund it.
Yes, and per-piece pricing drops with volume. Service awards, client gifts, event runs and branded signage are regular work for us. Start on the corporate page and we will quote per piece with a delivery date.
Hand wash, dry it straight away, and oil it every few weeks with a food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner. Do not put it in a dishwasher and do not leave it standing in water. Decorative wall pieces need nothing beyond keeping them out of direct sun.
Often, yes — tumblers, bottles, boxes, tools and plaques. Send a photo of the item and we will tell you whether the material will mark cleanly and what it would cost. We will also tell you honestly when the risk of ruining the item is not worth it.
